WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY EXCURSION
Saturday 16th August 2025
Set sail on an unforgettable photography adventure through Scotland’s breathtaking west coast islands. This exclusive eight-hour boat trip, limited to just ten guests, offers a rare chance to explore some of the most scenic and wildlife-rich locations in the region. With your camera in hand, you’ll journey through rugged landscapes and vast open waters, where there’s the possibility of capturing incredible moments—from soaring golden eagles and white-tailed eagles to the mesmerizing movements of marine life like whales and dolphins.
Led by a highly skilled and experienced skipper with an in-depth understanding of the area, this excursion is designed to take you to the best spots where wildlife is often found. With my expert guidance on photography techniques, you’ll have the support needed to make the most of every opportunity. While nature is unpredictable, this trip offers stunning scenery, immersive exploration, and the thrill of venturing into untamed landscapes. Don’t miss your chance—reserve your place now and experience Scotland’s raw beauty through your lens!

Your adventure begins in the picturesque coastal village of Crinan, located 13 miles west of Lochgilphead. Here, you’ll meet the skilled skipper and board one of the open-back stormforce cabin ribs—among the most stable vessels for sea , ensuring a smooth and steady ride as you capture breathtaking shots. Once aboard, we will set sail toward the stunning Slate Islands, a collection of rugged and remote isles that include Scarba, Lunga, and Eileach an Naoimh, as well as countless smaller rocky outcrops that provide sanctuary for remarkable birdlife. If conditions are favourable, we may even head over to the west side of Mull to the Treshnish Isles.
As we navigate between these wild and unspoiled islands, there is the exciting possibility of spotting marine life such as whales and dolphins, or even witnessing the powerful dive of the elusive white-tailed sea eagle. With nature being unpredictable, no two trips are the same, making every excursion a truly unique experience. To make the most of this journey, a large zoom lens—around the 600mm range—is highly recommended, along with plenty of spare batteries and memory cards to last the full eight hours.
Since we will be at sea for the entirety of the trip, bringing your own lunch and snacks is essential. The weather can be just as unpredictable as the wildlife, so wearing layers and packing waterproofs is advised—even if the sun is shining when we depart, conditions can shift quickly once out on the water. Should you wish to sit inside, the vessel offers a cabin spacious enough for everyone, along with a toilet for comfort throughout the trip.
Upon returning to shore, we’ll gather to reflect on the day’s captures, exchange tips and advice, and look forward to reviewing our images in greater detail once home. I will be there to provide assistance and guidance throughout, ensuring you get the best from this extraordinary photographic experience.
